Local MP Kate Green has long been an admirer of the work the Club does within the local community, and after an approach from the Club, she has kindly agreed to be the patron of Trafford Athletic Club.
Kate’s constituency is Stretford and Urmston and she is passionate that local youngsters participate in sport. She and understands the Patronage of the Club as a huge honour, a role she intends to undertake with great pride.
Kate has really impressed the local community with her drive to improve the local area and she is determined that this role will enable her to continue these improvements and increase the Clubs standing in the Community.
This summer Kate has been a regular attendee at a number of competitions including YDL Upper, Northern League and Tuesday Evening Grand Prix.
Although a newcomer to the world of athletics she is fast gaining a love for the sport and of course the benefits it brings to the community.
Speaking about the appointment Club Chairman, Alan Johnson, remarked
"This is a great honour for the club to have the standing local MP as their patron.
Kate first got involved in the club when she met up with Tom Cullen. Since then she has been invited down to numerous meetings at the track.
It is clear that Kate is someone who enjoys her athletics. To have her as our patron is a great honour and I am sure she will be able to help the club move forward."
