GM Sportshall Championship 2015

Sunday 25th January saw the 2015 Greater Manchester Sportshall Championships take place at Sportscity.
Once again this proved to be a very successful championships with Trafford AC dominating the medal table - as can be seen below.

With so many fine performances and medals to pick from, it's hard to choose the highlights - but here goes(!)

In the u15b Elliot was all conquering, 4 events, 4 golds - 6 Lap, SLJ, STJ & Relay. George also stepped up from u13 to u15 and continued where he left off 3 gold SB, VJ, Relay and 1 Silver STJ (getting pushed in to second by Elliot.)

In the u15g Georgia and Imojene where competing in their 6th and final County Championship for the club. On the day, it was Georgia who came out top of the Trafford girls with Gold in Speed Bounce, Vertical Jump and Relay, as well as making the 2 Lap final. It was also the final Sportshall Championship for long term team members Zalika and Lili. It's been a privilege to watch these girls mature over the years in Sportshall and hopefully they'll stick around for many more years in Track and Field for Trafford. As last year the Trafford u15 girls dominated the triple jump and vertical jump with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th in the Triple and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 6th in the Vertical Jump

Fresh from wining the Sportshall League the u13g were also in the hunt for medals. Most successful on the day was Tasmin with 1st in Standing Long Jump, 2nd (to Isobel) in 6 Lap and 3rd in Shot to go with a relay Gold; not bad from someone who was obviously ill.

With Josh unavailable and Jamall only able to make it in time for the relay, the u13b were low on numbers, but not in quality. Cian continued his impressive Sportshall season with 2nd in 2 Lap and Shot and 1st in Vertical Jump. Jarall, in his first competition for the club, out jumped all in the Standing Long Jump to pick up his first Gold Medal. Jamall and Eoin were able to make in time for a relay win too.

The u11g Saw a fine 1 Lap win for Trezeguet, the only individual medals for the u11b were in 3 Laps for Louis and Speed Bounce for Thremayne.

In the relays the Trafford dominance was underlined - with wins for u11g (Trezeguet, Emily, Ellina & Roselle); u13g (Leila, Issi, Tasmin and Roselyne); u13b (Cian, Jamall, Eoin and Ayoola); u15g (Molly, Lili, Imojene and Lili) and u15b (Sagesse, George, Armando and Elliot)

Next up for Sportshall will be the North West Regional Final, at Sportscity on 8th March, where we ought have a fair few Trafford Athletes representing Greater Manchester.
