Trafford AC accounted for approximately a third of the athletes selected to represent Greater Manchester in the Northwest Regional Sportshall Finals at Wigan on Saturday.
The competition proved a great success for Greater Manchester, the highlight being the u13 girls winning their competition and so qualifying for the National Final. It's been a long time since a GM team made the National Finals, so congratulations to them.
Individually all the Trafford athletes played significant rolls for their teams. This was most apparent in the u15 boys team for which there where five Trafford athletes in the six man team that finished second overall.
Rivi finished 1st in the Standing Long jump and second in the 2 Lap, Troy was second in the 4 Lap and Josh third in the 2 Lap. In what proved to be a very close individual competition Troy finished third and Rivi fith with only 7 points separating 1st to 5th. Josh, Jaikob and Will all made good scores to finish 13th, 14th & 19th.
The GM u15g team had a very tough match and finished 3rd with good performances in their events from both Allana & Emily.
The GM u13 boys team also finished 3rd. U13's competitions are more team based, and so picking out individual performances is a bit harder - however Dom and George both won the individual events for which they were entered with Dom winning the Standing Triple Jump and George the speedbounce.
The GM u13 girls were dominant - winning by nearly 160 points(!) Individually the Trafford girls played their part - Zalika won the Standing triple Jump with Imojene 3rd and Lili came 2nd in the Standing long jump.

And so the u13g go on the the National National Final on Sunday 7th April at LG Arena NEC Birmingham. It is usually a spectacular occasion. GMAA plan to hire a coach to take the athletes and parents down there. We envisage two pick ups, one at Bolton arena and the other at Trafford Athletic club. We will send more details out at a later date.
