The 2nd round of the Manchester Area Cross Country League was held on a very wet and muddy course at Sherdley Park in St Helens.
The U11 race started the proceedings and featured an outstanding win by Louie McCormack. Not only did Louie record one of the biggest winning margins ever in this event (22 seconds) but he became Trafford AC's first ever winner in the U11 League. Trafford finished 4th team with Max Rarity finishing 23rd and Oriol Sala 31st. In the U11 Girls race, Sadie Mannion ran well to finish in 23rd place.
Next up were the U13s. Excellent packing by Joe Bentall (6th), Seb Patrick (7th) and Tom Bentall (9th) gave the team 2nd place, ably backed up by Oliver Choi ( 11th) and Alex Bailey (23rd). In the U13 Girls race, Lauren Howley (39th) and Emily Wolstencroft (42nd) both ran well in the difficult conditions.
Perhaps the most unexpected performance of the day came from Xav O'Hare in winning the U15 Boys race. After 5 years of representing Trafford this was Xav's first major cross country win. It was a well deserved reward for hard training and dedication. Jack Wilkinson (12th) and Cynog Williams (22nd) had consistent runs to give the team 2nd place. Marnie Mannion finished a respectable 36th in the U15 Girls race.
The U17 Mens team also finished 2nd. The ever-improving Mac O'Malley (7th) and Seamus Bradbury (10th) were supported by Mikey Kingston in 17th place.
