The first half of the club's cross country season ended at a cold but dry Heaton Park last Saturday with the 3rd fixture in the Manchester Area Cross Country League.
As always, a good number of Trafford athletes took part.
The Under 20 Men's team continued to dominate their league.
Competing in field of 341 Seniors and Juniors, they easily won the team race with Zak Miller an excellent 3rd, followed by Matt Sutton 29th and Mac O'Malley 33rd.
Our Under 17 Mens team were equally impressive. Packing 5 runners in the top 11 positions, they comfortably won the team race. The usual great performance by Xav O'Hare in 2nd place was supported by by the ever-improving Jack Wilkinson in 5th, followed by the superb packing of Connor Fazakerley, Mikey Kingston and James Norton in 9th, 10th and 11th places. Abel Ashby helped to complete our 'B' team in 21st place.
A much depleted Under 15 Boys team finished in a satisfactory 4th place. First Trafford athlete home was Joe Bentall in 9th place followed by Cynog Williams 14th and the return from long term injury of Seb Patrick in 15th.
A great performance from our Under 13 Boys team gave them 2nd team place. Led home by Tom Bentall in 5th place, Louie McCormack continued his return to form in 6th, closely followed by the consistent Oliver Choi in 9th. Luca Costello in 33rd and Charlie Massey in 40th also finished the tough course.
Trafford only had 2 boys in the Under 11 race but Ralf Syrett in 27th and debutant Arlo Kain in 42nd will have gained valuable experience from their race.
It was good to see 7 Trafford girls competing at this fixture.
Pride of place goes to Beth Donnelly who is still a Junior but finished in 7th place out of 214 athletes in the combined Senior/Junior Womens race. Beth is returning to the kind of form which she showed as a younger athlete.
Anna Baker continued to support the club with her 18th place in the Under 17 race.
We had no athletes at Under 15 level but Lauren Howley in 39th and Emily Wolstencroft in 46th completed a testing Under 13 race.
A hopeful glimpse of the future in the Under 11 Girls race with 3 athletes in the top half of a field of 57 finishers. Good packing by Olivia Holbrook 20th, Alex Sinclair 27th and Cleo Bentall 28th, gave them 10th team position.
Next weekend sees the Trafford Schools League on Saturday morning as well as the Trafford Christmas Handicap on Sunday.
