The final Manchester Cross Country League fixture was held on a relatively dry course at Wythenshawe Park.
First race of the day was the Under 11 Girls, where the Trafford team finished 7th, led home by Emily Wolstencroft in 27th place, followed by Sadie Mannion in 32nd and newcomer Lauren Howley 37th.
The Under 11 Boys were next and it was good to see 7 athletes finish for the club. Leading the way was Oliver Choi who ran his best race of the season to finish 2nd in the same time as the winner. He was closely folowed by Tom Bentall in 7th. Good packing by the rest of the team, Jack Ackers (14th), Zak Gardner (15th), Max Rarity (16th), Oriol Sala (23rd) and Jack Webb (29th) gave the team an excellent 2nd place.
Marnie Mannion was our only girl in the Under 13 Girls race and she finished in the top half of the field in 23rd place.
The Under 13 Boys finished 5th with Alex Bailey our top counter in 14th place. He was followed by Cynog Williams in 20th and an improving Joe Bentall in 24th.
Again, we only had one finisher in the Under 15 Girls race where Anna Baker was a solid 23rd.
We only had one finisher in the Under 15 Boys race and that was Jack Wilkinson who continued his current good form with a superb 3rd place against much older and larger opposition.
The final race of the young athletes programme was the Under 17 men. Trafford finished in 2nd team place led home with an excellent run by Matt Sutton in 2nd place, supported by Danny Shaw in 5th and Mac O'Malley 8th.
Several of the team now travel to the National Cross Country Championships in London next weekend.
