Match 2 in this year's Youth Development League Lower saw the team travel to Crewe. The weather could best be described as 'variable'; bright and warm, followed by drizzle, heavy rain & then clearing up again.
Once again, those competing did themselves proud.
This is a very competitive and evenly balanced league, with just a few point separating second to sixth in the first match and so it proved again in this time. A fifth place finish for Trafford this time, 17 points off third.
As ever we are indebted to the roll played by those who officiate. A full complement gets 55 points towards the overall team score, which is very significant (1st place in an A string is 10 points)

With so many fine results, and PB's everywhere, picking out highlights isn't easy, the top three finishes are listed below, but everyone competing played their part in order to get such a good team result.
u13g - This group of highly talented girls continue to shine. In the field Halle 2nd in HJ (A); Ellina 2nd LJ (A). On the track the good form continued from match 1, with every athlete finishing in the top 3 - apart from hurdles where it was good to see Ellina and Neve both competing. 800m - Amelia 2nd (A) and Maya 3rd (B); 150m Trezeguet 1st (A) and Ellina 3rd (B); 75m Trezeguet 1st (A) and Halle 3rd (B) and the highlight was a 1, 2 finish in the 1200m for Emily and Nicola giving them 1st in both A & B. The 4x100m relay team finished 2nd.
u13b - Loosing Charlie on the morning of the match with injury left us even lower on numbers than match 1. Those who did compete, did so with great commitment and a willingness to what they could to ensure as many events as possible where covered. In the field Louis and Shea both finished second in Long Jump A & B respectively; Pierce finished 2nd in the 100m (B); Samuel B 3rd (A) and Louis 1st (B) in 200m and the two Samuel's 1st (A) and 2nd (B) in the 1500m. Hats off to all 5 lads, you did us proud.
u15g - With Abi unavailable, the field events got shuffled round. Nardia and Rebecca 3rd (B) continue to improve their hammer and Charlie made a good debute High Jump to go with 3rd in 100m (A) and 2nd in 200m (B); Kelechi was 3rd 100m (B) and Evie and Charlotte where 2nd A & B in 1500m. The 4x100m relay team finished 3rd
u15b - With 5 first choice athletes unavailable, this team still did exceedingly well. It was great to see us fill our hurdles slots with both Laurie and Ayoola competing. The unavailability hit us in the MD events most, with Lewis's 3rd 800m (B) being the only top 3 finish. Josh was available for the full match this time and chipped in with three PB's finishing 2nd (A) in both Hammer and Discus and 1st in High Jump (A), spectators watched open jawed as has scissored over 1.65. Cian finished on the same height to be 1st (B) to go with his 3rd (A) in Shot and 1st (B) in 200m. Dimarco, in his first match for the club finished 1st in 100m (B). Jamall was outstanding in smashing his PB in both 100m and 200m to win both convincingly. Unsurprisingly the 4x100m relay team of Jamall, Cian, Dimarco and Jamall finished 1st
We also had an increase in the number of Graded performances, 27 in all
