Match 2 in this years Youth Development league took place on Saturday 30th May. Home advantage and much better weather than the first match.
As proved to be the case in the first match, this league is very competitive, with all the clubs filling most of their events. This results in a very keenly fought competition.
u13g - Missing Maya, Ellina and Sammy from the first match, but boosted by the return of Orli, the girls remained competitive in all their events. Issi achieved 2 PB & Charlotte's 4 second PB improvement in 800m was probably their performance of the day.
u13b - No doubt on the u13 boys performance of the day, A sprint double for Jamall with a time of 12.6 in the 100m taking him to 5th in the country for 100m.
u15g - PB's galore from this very competitive age group, 11 in total, including a jump of 1.35 for Abi in her first ever High Jump competition (she must only be about 1.50 tall); Anna continuing her rich vein for form, knocking her 800m PB down again. A relay win this time too in the 4x100m and a very good second place in the 4x300m
u15b - It was 11 PB's for the lads too. Cian continues to improve his sprint PB every time he competes, no HJ PB this time though for him, but there was for George Two PB's for Armando too, showing his versatility and value to the team with good performances in LJ - winning the B with George winning the A - and Javelin.
On this occasion we finished 3rd, but with only 14 points between 3rd and 5th, home advantage probably paying it's part as, especially with the u13's teams, half term holidays had its effect.
The PB count was high again, 37, which is great as it shows progress from a good number of athletes.Grades wise Jamall's two grade 1 sprints were the only grade 1 or 2 performances.

Home matches mean more officials required - Peter and Dave (Timekeepers), Rachel, Neil and Elaine (Track Judges), and the field team lead by Scott, with Lucy, Sue, Rob and Carl. Along with Mike on the mike; Alan results, Maryon Field Referee and Gavin on First Aid.
Without a full complement of officials, these competitions wouldn't be able to take place - so parents - this is where you can help contribute, no experience necessary and we have plenty of experience on hand to guide.
